Study On The Establishment Of Public Forum Of TV News Comments

Express freedom is a fundamental right of a citizen, and certain space and media are needed to realize such a right. The mass media inevitably shoulder the responsibility for the realization of the express freedom by establishing public forum. Freedom is the basic characteristic of public forum, and citizens can equally participate in the forum and discuss a public topic with other participants. To materialize the freedom of expression, the mass media should seek some concrete forms that consistent with the characteristics of public forum; that is, to establish effective medium form for public forum. In this paper, the author takes comment on current affairs of Phoenix TV as an example and analyzes its comment topics, commenter, and debating process. Ultimately the author finds that its topics are controversial, the commenter is diversified, and the debating process is of contention. All these are the core factors for comment on current affairs to successfully establish public forum. In the end, the author further draws a conclusion: debating is the most important factor in all the process.
