Brideges play very important part of transportation. It's pretty significant to connect the roads net. With the development of our national economy, highway transportation and rapid increasing of traffic amount, brideges have entered into the maintenance periods. The diseases, detection and maintenance of bridges have become major concerns. At present, part of the management of the bridge remains in manual mode, even using of database technology, because the disease is often only for a specific bridge which causes information scattered and hard to manage. It's urgent to set up a common disease-database management system of arch bridges in order to provide decision basis for the bridge management department.The paper is based on Ministry of Transportation and Communications Technology project west traffic "long-span bridge monitoring, reinforcement, complete sets of conservation technology research" (200431881426).By the needs-analysis of the Bridges Information Database in combination with the reason of arch bridge disease in order to set up an opening arch disease database, studied the theory of database-environment, database-entities and the corresponding property, the application of functional modules and working principle in detail, and the arch disease information database management system was set up. The database system is compiled with the help of SQL Server 2000 and based on web technology by ASP application development tools.The system possesses the functions of data maintenance, information query, statistical analysis etc. Furthermore, it also achieves the visibility management of highly integrated database of figures, attributes, images and texts. And it improves the accuracy of database storage, convenience of searching information.It provides supports to make decision for bridge management department on the bridge situation and disease analysis. Also, it dose well in strong scalability and ease calls of applications. At last the author discusses bugs exists in the system and the way how to improve it.
