Time , which was created in 1923 by Henry Robinson Luce and Briton Hadden, is not only the earliest modern news weekly but is in the first place of the three top news weekly today in U.S. It has many characters in both editing skills and running managements which have made it develop from its initiative circulation less than10 thousands to more than 10 million per-week all over the world and become the badge not only for U.S. but also for the whole magazine industry.By working up with Time's developments, running managements and editing characters, this thesis seeks the trace of Luce's route in innovation and development of the "Time". Meanwhile, through the contrast of Chinese and U.S. Newsweek, this paper tries to analyze the current development of Chinese news weekly from the perspective of the report characteristics objectively and comprehensively and find out the weaknesses and shortcomings that restrict the development of Chinese Newsweek. Then the author attempts to draw on the successful experience of U.S. Newsweek and conduct exploratory research on the prospects of Chinese Newsweek. Finally this thesis puts forward the proposals for Chinese Newsweek to stand firm in the fierce market competition. This Paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter elaborates the definition of Newsweek and summarizes the characteristics of Newsweek. The author sums up the background, development process and status quo of Time from the economic and cultural perspectives. The second chapter sums up the running management character of the "Time" in different aspects, such as its good running module, training the readers and showing respects to the subscribers, etc.In chapter III, the author summarizes the editing character of the Time by discussing its cover people, press photo and explanatory reports.Chapter IV is the conclusion part. Through the analysis of China Newsweek's Problems and opportunities, as well as drawing on the experience of U.S. Newsweek, the author puts forward corresponding proposals on the future development and coping strategies of Chinese Newsweek.
