With the rapid development in the technology of the steel industry automation, thesteel enterprises at home and abroad have vigorously research and development ofintelligent control systems to further increase productivity. At present, many domesticenterprises mostly buy complete sets of production control systems from abroad, ordevelop the system using the configuration software by them. This has greatly increasedthe research and development costs of the production systems. Based on the VacuumOxygen Decarburization (VOD) process, one of the secondary refining processes ofstainless steel, this paper presents the developed production control system softwareapproach using high-level programming language. This may lead to lower R & D costs,and maintain the system perfect.This thesis analyzes the VOD furnace system. The production guidance system ofVOD furnace is designed and developed. Through the oxidation quantity and oxidationrate of carbon and other metal element in steel is calculated in the various stages ofOxygen, it can real-time, accurate forecasting the time of the blowing and the vacuumrefining, endpoint temperature and endpoint carbon content and so on. It is effectivelyguide quality optimization of production. With the PLC control system, it is fullyrealized the dynamic control functions ofVOD process.In this paper, the manufacturing process sequences of VOD furnace, and design ofthe overall structure of the production guidance system, and the programming anddebugging of system software are detailedly described. Using VB, The productionoperator interface with a lot of functions, such as timing of smelt, recording andquerying, reading and writing of process parameters, is developed. The system canreal-time record and monitor the on-site data. And according to the real-time changes ofthe curve of the blowing, one can timely adjust the target value to be up to the mustard.At the same time, with the design of synchronous communication modules of threemachines, the system played a redundant role in actual operating. It makes a goodrunning result in actual production.Finally, the summary of this paper is given. And the system's deficiencies and someproblems of needing for improved were pointed out.
