China Post has an information system used in post periodicals service. The system is only restricted to processing some simple data, but it is inefficient to realize the function of supervision, appraisal and decision supporting & making, which has been a main concern for the current improvement. In this background, the thesis tries to introduce the system of decision supporting and making into the current post periodicals information system, with the emphasis on the individual needs of post periodicals issuing.The thesis starts with the general summary of the domestic and overseas periodicals issuing, giving full details on the background, significance and difficulty for this technological improvement. With the use of case diagram, sort diagram, sequence illustration, performance diagram, function module diagram, it elaborates on the concrete needs of the whole system. and then demonstrates an outline of decision support system based on data warehouse. Meanwhile, the design constructs a data mining module by decision tree arithmetic. The OLAP analysis overlying on data warehouse and module collection is more effective in data processing. The design realizes the extraction, conversion and loading of data in the previous system, builds a multi-dimensional data collection for analysis, gives permission to the visit, analysis and demonstration of data in each dimension. Finally, with the adoption of the platform of SQL Server 2005 and the input of JavaEE, the design obtains the decision-making data.The design meets all anticipation, and has good performance in quick response and multi-dimensional analysis, which ensures its operation in OLAP on database. Meanwhile, the design is flexible, economical and practical with the adoption of source-making technology, and satisfies the need of decision-making system of post periodicals operation.
