The bucket wheel stacker and reclaimer is a kind of orbital bulk material handling equipment combining stacking and reclaiming, which was developed from small-sized bucket wheel excavating machine. The stacker reclaimer, with the features of more capacity, less coverage, easy operation and automatically control, is one of key facilities in coal handling system of thermal power plant. To exactly understand the working flow and control method of stacker reclaimer has importance of improving automatic level, distributing labor resource, coal resource and coal yard resource in reasonable way.In designing electrical control system of stacker reclaimer, the safety and reliability have to be taken into account. With telecommunication between host and slave stations of PLC, all controlling parts of the machine will be controlled by PLC to collect working signals and monitor operating mode. Once dangerous working conditions emerged, alarming will be out and in case emergency emerged, interlocking will be active to protect the machine.The field bus is one of"hotspots"of development of automatic technology. The distributed control system adopts Siemens Profibus-DP to construct network. The thoroughly decentralized control is the highlight of the field, for it uses the intelligent field devices to finish the function of controller in a decentralized way through weakening even omitting the hierarchy of centralized controller to reduce the costs of wiring and to improve the automation and reliability of control system by decentralizing control risks. .The application of frequency control for long travelling and slewing of the stacker reclaimer ensures safety and reliability of whole machine. The fire and wireless communication device can be used for communication system of the machine to increase the reliability. Besides PLC and field bus, the control system of the stacker reclaimer includes detecting system, ITV and anti-interference technology to improve the working efficiency, safety and reliability.The GE iFIX software used for the management system of the stacker reclaimer includes units such as dynamic display, alarming, tendency, control strategy and communication control and combined technology of central control, man-machine interface, graphics, database and network to monitor the operation of whole machine at real time.With the development of economy and the industrialization and urbanization, the cost of labor increases step by step and the demand on environment is higher. The unmanned operation, i.e, full-automation of the stacker reclaimer will be the solution of the above-mentioned problems.Based on the conventional working flow and control level of the stacker reclaimer, a upgraded design method and concept will be put into practice. The control system of the stacker reclaimer succeeds in the commissioning and operating and meets the requirements of the machine.
