The Integration Of Browser And Media-Player Based On Linux OS And The Development Of Related Software

Along with the development of the computer network,multimedia applications based on network has been used by customers frequently.These applications play an more and more important role in our daily lives.Beside that,the copyright problem is more and more focused by our government as well as ordinary people.As a result of that,Linux is widely promoted in both Desktop-PC and embedded systems because of its open-source and free advantages.However,compared to application softwares running on windows the number of application softwares for linux are much smaller. This also prevents linux from being widely used.The integration of browser and media-player as an important part of network multimedia processing functions has become one of the most focused problem in linux community.This paper try to solve the problems including loose integration of browser and linux kernel;the solid architechture of media-player which is not scalable;the lacking of software to integrate these two applications just like Windows does.Through the study of the open source softwares, this paper intends to discuss following issues:the architechture of browser which is highly integrated with linux kernel and highly scalable;media-player's architechture based on platform-plugin style which is also scalarble and widely compatible to wide range of media types especially media types for Windows;the integration of browser and media-player.The resulted softwares improve the ability of Linux to process multimedia as well as streaming media .Also it solves the problem of integration of browser and media-player.Apart from those mentioned above,this paper also studied how to customize these resulted softwares to meet the limitted-resource requirement of embedded systems.Through tailoring and refactoring,a version suitable for embedded systems is formed. The improvement of the softwares solved some problems related to limmited-resource environment such as the limited hard disk storage and so on.These two versions of software has passed the Verification Testing conducted by Chongqing Software Testing Center.The resulted softwares are being used in Desktop-PC and Network Computer.The feedback from end users is quite good.Generally speaking,this paper refers to the reaseach process of designing, implementing and testing the related softwares of the integration of browser and media-player on both Desktop and embedded linux.Related softwares includes browser,media-player and the multimedia plugin(NPAPI plugin) for the browser..
