With the rapid development of broadband network technology and multimediainformation technology, multimedia application is playing an important role inInternet applications. Meanwhile, with the development of Audio/Video CODECtechnology and distribution method for streaming media, the research of streamingmedia player which support video-on-demand is drawing a lot of attention andbecoming more and more popular.A streaming media player system with MPEG-4 and MP3 decode solution forvideo-on-demand is designed and implemented in this article. Based on AMD Au1200Processor and embedded Linux, the system integrates embedded browser andstreaming media player application. It provides the function of on-line streamingmedia playing with HTTP to implement the transfer of media stream.In Chapter 1, the background and current research status of streaming media playerare covered, the main tasks of the research and content of the article are also given.In Chapter 2, the technology as a leverage in system design are introduced, HTTPtechnology and embedded GUI are mainly discussed in this chapter.In Chapter 3, based on hardware and software solution, the total solution of systemfocused on software architecture is proposed, including the introduction of Aul200processor, the design model of embedded browser and media player.In Chapter 4, the migration of platform for media player development is discussed indetail, including the migration and development of X Server windows manager,GTK graphic tool and the decode libraries for media player.In Chapter 5, the migration and modification of embedded browser are firstlydiscussed according to the actual context of application, with an emphasis on HTTPdata parsing.The design and implementation of media player focused on themultimedia data flow which is transferred through HTTP, the design of main thread,dynamic module and GUI are discussed in sequence.In Chapter 6, the process of system implementation is described and the result ofsoftware testing is also given.In Chapter 7, the prospect of further research work is proposed based on the researchwork conclusion.
