Railways are the lifeblood of the country, which relate to country's economy and production, and even national security. The station signal is one of the most important railways sector, it ensures the safety of rail transport and efficient production operations. However, the management of the station signal remains at almost level in 70s or 80s, although in recent years the station signal system partially uses the computer monitoring equipment, but due to lack of functionality, the use is very low efficient. The station signal management has been totally inconsistent with the situation of information development in every area, with railway speed increasing, the station signal system needs an efficient management platform.Based on the current management status of the station signal ,The report has designed the station signal equipment management system using of GIS technology, SQL Server database, ADO technology, and expert systems theory. The system mainly includes information management module and fault diagnosis module. The information management module of system realizes graphical information management by useing GIS component. The system uses VC and MapObjects (ESRI) in designing the system interface, and uses SQL Server database to save on the background, and realizes GIS data (MapObjects support Shapefiles) application at the interface of the application layer. Through connecting SQL Server database with ADO database interface, the system achieves the integration of information data management, office automation, paperless, and improves efficiency in the management of station signals. The fault diagnosis module of system makes the rules representation, the framework representation and object-oriented representation banded together to build knowledge object-oriented representation. The whole system uses object hierarchy as the central, and use event tree as a model to design fault diagnosis inference engine and knowledge base. Inference engine mainly bases on rule and uses event tree as method of reasoning, and narrows the scope of fault and eliminates conflicts by calculating fault possibility with using fuzzy inference rules.By testing the system can efficiently, quickly and conveniently manages station signal equipment, and accurately conclude the reasons of failure, the system has a certain practicality, it can really make up for computer monitoring system shortage.
