With the increasing speed of the enterprise information course, Manufacturing Executive System (MES), the bridge linking the upper system of transaction processing and the lower system of device control, is becoming one of the research hotspots. Therefore, the integration of MES with other enterprise information systems also becomes a critical issue. In this paper, an integration method based on XML technology is used to address this problem.After the analysis of integration requirements within MES environment, the framework of system integration is set up, in which the manufacturing data connecting MES with ERP, CAPP and DNC are classified according to the standard of the National Institute of Standards. These data, formally denoted as neural objects, are defined and analyzed. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used to describe these objects whose elements are analyzed to construct the static diagrams. The data structures to store them in database are also designed. Then, the neural object models are mapped to XML Schemas by UML. The creating and parsing process of XML documents for heterogeneous System integration are discussed. The transferring process of XML documents on the integrated platform is explained. The implementation of system integration based on Web Service is discussed. Based on the above work, the integration between MES and other systems are realized and the application effect is satisfying.At last, a conclusion of all research efforts is drawn and further research directions are prospected.
