The Research And Implementation Of EPG In IPTV

IPTV is an alternation multimedia information service providing DTV Program, visual telephone, VOD, sunlight government affair, network games, shopping online and remote education and so on by making use of Braod Band foundational establishment and international protocol(IP). EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is a TV program navigation system, which is mainly used for describing all the program information provided to TV viewers. It is one of the most important technologies in IPTV. In IPTV business, user can know relative information such as TV program name, broadcasting-time and contant through the EPG system, and implement the operation of searching and visiting the program quickly, selecting channels or ordering video program. Therefore, it is significant for us to study the EPG technology and to develop our own EPG system constantly.First, this article study the whole architecture of current IPTV system, analyze the function and characteristic of EPG subsystem in the IPTV system, and introduc the EPG related concepts. According to the characteristics of EPG system itself in the IPTV system, this article propose one kind of overall architecture for EPG system in IPTV, and analyze and research some key modules in EPG system as well as the flow of EPG system. This architecture uses the model of MVC (Model-View-Controller), effectively implement the separation of expression and data, can show many sets of data very conveniently with many views, cause the system to support other new customer client terminals very conveniently, and can express the user interactive very well. Then according to the EPG characteristic in IPTV system, to preserve the EPG relatived data of pages, it introduces the condition maintenance mechanism, and in-depthly analyzes and researches this mechanism. Afterwards, regarding the communication module between EPG system and STB, it uses the Hypertext Transfer Protocol—HTTP Protocol which is detailedly analyzed and researched in the article, and implements the fuction of gaining tabulated program information, gainning movie data, customer self-service service and so on. In the end, this article shows the example of karaoke EPG system. It implements that the system goes to the karaoke hot-list page from the karaoke portal page, and the fuction of correctly showing EPG relative data.
