Design And Implementation Of Project Management System Based On Workflow

Project management organization is usually formed by more than one enterprise dynamically. Each enterprise is a highly autonomic entity with special characteristic in management, technology and resources. The project management information system is usually designed and developed with considering each autonomic enterprise. It needs integrate the disorder, scattered and heterogeneous information from each enterprise. The communication and collaboration between enterprises is a widely researched question.The thesis applies the workflow technology to the development of project management information system. Workflow technology is a new area in the computer application since 1990s. It mainly used to deal with the project tasks in the project management field. It works out all the processing tasks as a series of abstract process definition that can be explained and executed by the workflow engine. The process definition is executed automatically or semi-automatically and accepts the supervision of operator.The thesis introduces the current research and applying situation of workflow technology. The necessity of applying the workflow is discussed after analyzing the requirement in the project management. FSM is applied to design the workflow engine according to the reference model of WFMC. A workflow-based project management system for the design and implementation and its key technologies are described. An example is introduced to explain the application of workflow in contract payment procedure.The construction control system of Shenyang subway is the background of this thesis. The workflow engine is integrated into the system as a separate module and achieves good results.
