With the rapid development of the sensor art, micro-electro-mechanism system, computer, wireless communications, autocontrol and artificial intelligence, the modern wireless sensor network comes into being and makes tremendous progress. The wireless sensor networks, which is data-centric, is able collaborating to monitor, sense and collect the information of the environment or the monitoring object in real time, and then transimits the information to user. Wireless sensor network, which is rising and integrated, provides a novel technology about acquiring and processing information. It can be widely used in national defense, environment monitoring, traffic management, health and manufacturing control.The key technologies in wireless sensor network include network communication protocol, core supporting technology, self organization and management and application development technology. This paper mainly researches the locating algorithm, simulation technology and the application based on ZigBee technology in wireless sensor network. All of them are the most important part of the key technology in wireless sensor network field.Node locating is one of the key technology in wireless sensor network. This paper presents a kind of new node locating algorithm in wireless sensor network, that is hop weighted centroid locating algorithm. This algorithm is based exclusively on connectivity, without any information of distance or signal strength. This algorithm improves the locating accuracy and at the same time reduces the requirement of the density of beacon nodes in general centroid algorithm.Simulation is one of the important means in the research and development in wireless sensor network. This paper introduces the theory and usage method of OMNeT++ in detail. In addition, this paper presents a simulation model for wireless sensor network locating algorithm and the hop weighted centroid locating algorithm is simulated as well.ZigBee is a novel short distance communication technology, it meets the need of applicatin in wireless sensor network for the short distance, low power and high-redundant. This paper presents a reduced ZigBee stack, which can meet the need of simple application. Meanwhile, this paper presents a kind of network structure of mine monitoring wireless sensor network. A design based on CC2431 is introduced in detail, including the hardware and software.
