| As an innovative model for library services, Information Commons (hereinafter referred to as IC) creates a new physical space and a visual environment for readers to improve their information literacy and IT skills and further enhances the abilities of information study, research, exchange and cooperation. IC of military academic libraries supports both the centralized and individualized ways of learning study and provides the new one-stop service of seamlessly integrating techniques and services, thus, offers new opportunities for readers'various demands and libraries'sustainable development.With the implementation of"Project 2110", the development of military academic libraries has drawn people's great attention. Libraries with better conditions on hardware and software have already met the requirements of constructing IC. The cadets'shifts in way of interpersonal interaction, learning and teaching also call for IC's strong support. However, due to the distinctions in functions, academic settings, reader groups among different military academies and between military academies and local universities, due to other aspects, such as library space, resource construction, facilities installment, personnel structure, evaluation model and the coordination and cooperation with other departments for the implementation of IC, at present, theoretical and practical studies on IC service model with distinct features of military academies are still insufficient. Hence, there is an urgent need of researches on this field suitable for the development of military academic libraries.It is significantly meaningful to study the IC service model of military academic libraries and build combined service with distinct military academic specialty. It is reflected in highlighting the function of information education; in cultivating the students'independent abilities to solve the problems and do researches; in strengthening library's teaching, function of scientific research entities and effect of physical"places"; in providing open resource access environment and rich, quick and humanized service to students and librarians; in making it a hybrid of library service and teaching elevating readers'utilization rate and satisfaction degree towards library; in speeding up the construction of military academic specialty, specially the Project 2110; in completing characteristic discipline construction index of evaluation index of military academic libraries and in speeding up the pace of personnel training.Though there is no thesis concerning IC service model of military academic libraries yet, the good news is that Second Military Medical University of PLA has provided many references in related studies in practice. This thesis centers on IC service model of military academic libraries, starting from the systemic elaboration on related theory, including the denotation and connotation of this concept, its types and characteristics; under the background of the evolution of information service model, analyzes its service philosophy and content, which lays a detailed theoretical base for the subsequent studies; analyzes on the traditional deficiency of military academic libraries service, concludes and generalizes modern users'behaviors through internet, makes a discriminate analysis on users'different service demands between two types of military academies, namely, the post-commissioning education and curricula education so as to expose the necessity of introducing IC service model for military academic libraries with"User-Centric"principle; after the explanation of IC's realistic significance, lists the fundamental requirements for constructing IC service model; designs the basic composition through three layers of indoor space support , outdoor space support and organizational management space support; meanwhile lists three popular ways of IC use, i.e. IC of discipline, multimedia and virtual learning share, which offers precious materials for later researchers; for the high efficiency of IC operation and the optimization of recourse utilization, combing IC construction cases home and abroad, preliminarily builds the evaluating index system and evaluation model of IC; makes an all-rounded analysis of the guarantee and operation mechanism of IC service from four layers of personnel safeguard, organizational management, service evaluation and network technology; on macro level, median level and micro level, elaborates on strategies for carrying out IC, containing all aspects of organizational planning before the IC construction, feature localization of military academies, propaganda and guidance during the implementation, enhancement of personnel quality, integration of administrative management and design of physical and virtual space; based on the realities, take the Air Force University library for instance, brings forward the significant subject IC solution of"Project 2110", analyzes the background of IC of Air Force University library, puts up with the strategy of the significant subject libraries of"Project 2110", analyzes through space design, software and hardware constitution, staffing and costume designing to integrate the documents, to extend the function of library information service; offers a platform for research people, library staff and students to inspire their potential through building evaluation model and evaluating index system; makes the IC provide better service to teachers and students and better transform the IC to LC (Learning Commons) and RC (Research Commons), which can be helpful to other military academies. At last, the thesis makes a prospect for the future development of IC in the hope of military academies'introducing the IC service model to further highlighting its chief status on research and teaching.Through researching the related documents, it is possible to build the IC for our military academic libraries. Within the evolution of its specific evaluation, in the coming future, as an important factor of innovating the library work, the IC will do have a larger development space. |
