The rapid growth of global economy has led to fast growth of automobile industry, the cost of automobile electronic has more than 30% percentage of total cost of the car, and the proportion is still increasing. Therefore , the development of new product and technical innovation has more and more closed relationships with the technical level of automobile electronic. The capabilities of automobile electronic productive investigations directly influence the design of new automobiles. With the rapid growth of domestic economy, our automobile industry is becoming mature, the rapid increase of vehicle population has led to rapid growth of electronic device, fault diagnosis and maintenance are becoming difficulty.The reason of choosing IPv6 is that IPv6 is the interntational acknowledged and open standard. Has the following advantages: (1)Good Scalability. Because IPv6 has enormous address space, each access device can have a global only, may be routing IP address. (2)Reliable Security. For each IPv6 nodes, IPSec is compulsory realized. Therefore, when an IPv6 connection established, can get a safety end-to-end connectivity. Through the communication client authentication and encryption for data protection, so that sensitive data can be securely transmit on IPv6 networks. (3)Diverse quality of service. IPv6 header has a type of business domain, the use of this domain can achieve the key users and applications on the merits of services. The domain of flowlabel of IPv6 header provide a powerful toll for the flow domain of engineering and load balancing as well as the distinction between end-to-end data flow. (4)Manageability. Structured address together with the host address auto-configuration, makes the re-code of the network and routers can be easily implementation. (5)Mobile interoperability. When the mobile terminal to the other field, can get a roaming address through address auto-configuration, and use this address communicate with other nodes on the network.At present, the network that universally applies in auto is CAN at the domestic. The features are: (1)CAN bus communication interface integrates the physical layer and data link layer functioan of CAN protocol, can complete handling the data frame, including Bit Stuffing, Data Block Coding, Cycle Redundancy Check and Discriminant Priority Job. (2)CAN protocol abolished the traditioanal coding Station Address, instead of the communication data block coding. (3)CAN bus using the competitive multi-master bus architecture, with multi-master operation and decentralized arbitration serial bus and features of Broadcast Communications. (4)Simple Structure. Only has two lines connected with the external, and integrates the error detection and management module. Domestic auto models are mainly from western countries which the CAN is the mainstream, Bus technology used in the model almost all of the use of CAN bus,so according to the actual situation at home and aborad, the research of automotive bus should consider CAN bus first. The target of our project is make the isolated and mobllity vehicle network and vehicle information terminals interconnect with the Internet. In order to realize the share of information and the four modern auto market requirements: safe, comfort, green and service, the vehicle information system of automobile post-sale services can detect and find out hidden troubles as soon as possible.This paper mainly introduces the design and implementation of the vehicle gateway base on IPv6. The vehicle gateway is responsible for conversion of IPv6 protocol and CAN protocol, it can offer a service access for can network and Internet, make the isolated and migratory vehicle gateway connect with Internet really, become a vehicle information product which can really connect with vehicle network, choosing reasonable vehicle routing, avoiding traffic block. So it can provide more and more convenient and comfortable services for drivers.The communication of the project contains two aspects: First, the Remote User Control Monitor (RUCM) sends control command to CAN nodes, Middle Proxy forwarding the command to vehicle gateway, the vehicle gateway receives and transforms them and sends to CAN network, the corresponding CAN node executes the command; Second, vehicle gateway receives information from CAN network and GPS receiver, the information is transformed and forwarded to RUCM by Middle Proxy. Vehicle gateway is a hinge of communication and key device connecting vehicle network with Internet. it mainly responsible for conversion of IPv6 protocol and CAN protocol.We add simple network management in the CAN network, make CAN network has address management, ECU configuration, data transmission management, build network and fault detection and treatment. Address management includes allocation and recycle of address. According to configuration of main node and function ofeach node determine the configuration of ECU. When CAN network power up, main node will receive address request of every node, after allocating address and storage each node's information in a ring chain list. When a transmission need transmits more than 8 bytes, we must need transmission management, we divide the data into small pieces, each piece includes 7 bytes data and 1tyte serial number. Fault detection and treatment: main node will timing polling every node in the CAN network, a node which receives polling data must send a responsion to the main node, the node that not response is fault, we must make the fault node out of CAN network to ensure the CAN network can work normally.The present problem is that domestic wireless network is not support IPv6 protocol, therefore, wo use CIPE tunnel technology in the CDMA network and change IPv6 TCP data into IPv4 UDP data to ensure the data can transmit through CDMA network.Now, we not have a really vehicle information product which can connect with vehicle network and can offer service for vehicle network, after the project of"Double Stack and Security Vehicle Gateway based on IPv6/IPv4"implementation, it can filling a domestic gap in this field, forming our own intellectual property rights for key technologies, improve Performance-price Ratio of automobile, enlarge automobile enterprises'market share, forming new economic growth point, improve domestic automobile enterprises'competitiveness.
