DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) is the technology which is earmarked for motor vehicles and roadside equipment to exchange information in the area of ITS (Intelligent Transport System). DSRC system is divided into three parts: OBU (On Board Unit), RSU (Road Side Unit), DSRC protocol. In March 19, 2007 China announced Electronic Toll Collection - Dedicated Short Range Communication standard. Subsequently, many research institutions and companies start to research and develop the OBU equipment and the RSU equipment. To ensure the interoperability and compatibility between the OBU equipment and the RSU equipment, the protocol conformance testing is needed to verify that the DSRC protocol of the equipment conforms to the protocol standard. ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) has designed the conformance testing standard for the European DSRC protocol standard during 2004 and 2007. But our country only announced the draft of protocol conformance testing method in January 2008. Therefore, the research of the protocol conformance testing technology for the national DSRC standard would be of great significance.This thesis described the design of the abstract test suite and conformance test system based on TTCN-3 for the DSRC protocol of the OBU equipment through the research and analysis of the ITU-T X.290 series of protocol conformance testing standards, TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation - version3) standard, the national DSRC protocol standard, and the ETSI conformance testing standard for the DSRC protocol.The content of the thesis would be described as following:Firstly, the thesis describes the basic theory, classification, methods and the process of the protocol conformance testing. Secondly, TTCN-3 standard and the testing software - TTworkbench is introduced. Thirdly, the thesis introduces the national DSRC protocol standard. Subsequently the design of the abstract test suite for the DSRC protocol of the OBU equipment is described. Finally, the thesis introduces the design of the conformance testing system for the DSRC protocol of the OBU equipment.
