Study Of Information And Communication Technology Of Singapore

In the past several decades, ICT has greatly changed the world. It broke the geographical restrictions and cultural barriers, spreaded the knowledge and information, and expanded world trade market which has changed people's living and work space. Nowadays, information and communication technology is an important driving force for country's economy and productivity. ICT industry has showed a high degree of globalization and information, so government has paid more attention to the development of ICT.Nowadays, Singapore, as the leader in the East Asian region, is known as the world's model in the development of information technology. Singapore's ICT development started in 1981, through the Singapore government's series of forward-looking plans and the unremitting efforts of a large number of people who committed to the development of information industry, Singapore has become a global leader in the usage of ICT. Research on Singapore's development of information technology will provide ICT policy-making support for the other developing countries. This thesis adopts the Networked Readiness Index framework from the World Economic Forum and the INSEAD. Based on the general condition of ICT, we will make a comprehensive research on the development of ICT in terms of ICT environment, networked readiness and networked usage, taking the government, enterprise and individual as the main body. The paper consists of following six chapters.Chapter One is the Introduction. The author introduces the international research on ICT, and the theme of research, literature home and abroad, approaches and framework of this paper.Chapter Two describes theories and appraisal systems Networked Readiness Index of the global Information technology.Chapter Three explores Information and Communication Technology (ICT) national strategies and level of development in Singapore. The paper intends to analyze the Singapore's ICT national strategies and blueprint from the macro level, and introduce the international competitiveness of Singapore ICT and the level of information industry's development.Chapter Four discusses Singapore's networked readiness environment. This thesis plans to research on Singapore ICT environment from the market, political, regulatory and infrastructure. Singapore's performance is outstanding in the ICT environment.Chapter Five discusses Singapore's networked readiness and networked usage. The author analyzes the ICT usage and preparation of Singapore government, enterprise and individual from the networked usage and preparation. The Singapore Government sets an example in the usage of ICT in the world.Chapter Six explores the successful experience of Singapore's ICT development for China.
