Natural gas as a clean, efficient new type of Green energy, are gradually became the third-largest natural energy following the coal and oil. With the development and utilization of natural gas, natural gas as a city gas has begun to enter the field of industrial and household. The automatization level of urban natural gas transmission and distribution system has become an important symbol of modernization in city gas. Therefore, the construction of advanced urban gas transmission and distribution monitoring system has important value in achieving urban natural gas transmission and distribution system automation operation and raising the level of management.This paper combine with automation demand of natural gas transmission and distribution system in Handan, based on PLC and Ethernet, Design and Implement three-tier structure of a natural gas transmission and distribution station monitoring system, including the device-level, control-level, and supervision and management level.This paper gived the overall structure of the monitoring system of natural gas transmission and distribution stations, according to the user's system requirements, established a redundant PLC control, connected Distributed I / O at the scene by the use of Genius bus, and connected the transmitter and control valve at the scene, All this greatly reduced the laying of the cable; Introduced the PLC's work principles and hardware and software design process of the Selection PLC; With the CIMPLICITY HMI configuration software, gived the connection of the ODBC data source, the establishment of SQL Server 2000 database and self-control ActiveX; Monitoring computer communicated with Flow Manager through the serial port by the use of Modbus protocol in the system. Monitoring Computer transmitted data with server through the VPN and LAN, collected data at the scene and sent to the server, centralized control and scheduling.The whole monitoring system has the following advantages: The use of Fieldbus technology, make the control system has the flexibility and extensibility. The self-made ActiveX controls for CIMPLICITY HMI configuration software enhanced software features and security; monitoring computer send data at the scene to servers in Real-time, help the monitoring center to know field data timely and accurate, and attemper system roundly and effectively. This monitoring system enhance the level of automation in natural gas resources of transmission and distribution and scheduling of Handan area, This gives a useful attempt, and accumulates valuable experience for the development of large-scale and the broader coverage of natural gas transmission and distribution monitoring system.
