Research On Virtual Test Platform For Vehicle Based On MultiGen Creator

Virtual Reality is a rapidly developed computer technology in recent years. The Virtual Reality has the characteristics of interaction, immersion and imagination and has been used in industrial, military, education, health care, games and other fields widely.This paper applies the Virtual Reality system to the vehicle test and finally builds a virtual test platform for vehicle. The traditional vehicle test has the shortcomings of large costs, long test cycle, test risks and etc. The integrating of vehicle test and VR will not only overcome the mentioned shortcomings and will also make the test process visual, more convenient and interactive and the test can be done repeatedly in different working conditions.Therefore, the research on virtual test platform for vehicle has important theoretical value and practical significance.The main contents of this paper are:1. Working out the data and major facilities for the virtual test platform for vehicle according to vehicle test, especially the road test, meanwhile collecting the modeling source material.2. Making a research on VR and test platform for vehicle, especially the history, status, functions and structure of both the domestic and foreign proving ground to design the test platform for vehicle generally.3. Analyzing the characteristics and modeling methods of VR to determine the methods of modeling the virtual test platform for vehicle using Multigen Creator.4. Completing the model of virtual test platform for vehicle, which verifying that using the VR technologies to study vehicle test is feasible.Finally, the paper makes a conclusion. Although the study has hit some certain targets, but there still have been some deficiencies which needed to be improved. The VR technology is a highly developed technology, and applying it to vehicle test is an explorative, challenging and pioneering work.
