Digitization is the inevitable development trend of the new generation space TT&C technology. Based on the software radio technology, the MPSK IF digital receiver, with the characteristics of flexibility, versatility, openness as well as reliability, will become the very important part of the new generation space TT&C system.Synchronization is a very crucial technical problem in the space TT&C system. Besides, whether the space TT&C system can work validly and reliably or not depends on the synchronization technology. Taking the carrier synchronization of the MPSK IF digital receiver as the breakthrough point, the estimation algorithms of the carrier frequency offset in the digital receiver system are researched in this paper.Based on the related theories of the MPSK IF digital receiver, the cause of carrier frequency offset and its influence to the performance of digital receiver system are analyzed in the paper, with emphasis upon the estimation and the compensation methods of the carrier frequency offset. Among these estimation algorithms of carrier frequency offset, the ML estimation algorithm, the Kay estimation algorithm and the Rife estimation algorithm are the focus of the introduction. Besides, a new estimation algorithm of carrier frequency offset is given and the calculation process of this new algorithm is detailed in the paper. In addition, the feasibility and effectiveness of this new algorithm are testified by the MATLAB simulation.
