In digital communication systems, synchronization is a very important question. Whether communication systems can work validly and reliably or not depends on synchronization technology. In other words, synchronization affects the quality of communication directly. So it is a key technology in communication system. This thesis deals with the algorithms of carrier frequency offset and phase error for MPSK signal.Firstly, the paper introduces the character and the development of all-digital receiver and the related theory on all-digital receiver, analyzes the impact of frequency offset and phase error on digital demodulation. Based on the ML criterion. The paper analyzes some carrier recovery algorithms.The demand for a wide estimation range and an accurate estimation are always uncompatible in many frequency estimation algorithms. In this paper, this problem is fully analyzed and a new solution with high performance and easy implementation is proposed. Computer simulation shows that in the condition of data-aided QPSK with Eb/N0 higher than -3dB and non-data-aided QPSK with Eb/N0 higher than 9dB ,its estimation range is about ±40% and ±10% of symbol rate.The algorithm is very fast and has a large frequency estimation range, so it is fit for burst digital transmission especially. Computer simulation shows that its complexity is comparable to exiting method, it is available in real-time implementation and can guide practical application.
