With the development of modern radar technology, a higher demand is proposed for the radar system about the accuracy, real-time, reliability and maintainability. As the core of radar terminal, radar display and control system plays an important role in radars and its real-time performance is the first problem to be resolved.In this paper, the purpose is to design specific radar display and control system based on the DOS(Disk Operation System) and protected mode interface, which can realize the file and memory management, interruption procession, I/O operation, network communication and GUI(Graphical User Interface). Also, the system will be meet the requirements of high-precision, high real-time, high reliability and high maintainability. Therefore, the paper analyzes the basic principles of protected mode and graphical display, introduces the international norms of protected mode. The key point is to analyze various technical difficulties during the software design and give solutions to specific circumstances. Finally, the paper presents the scheme of radar display and control system with the DJGPP in the protected mode, as well as accomplishes the designed.
