With the development of computer science and technology of image, the image processing and analysis technique gradually infiltrate into medical science field. The new age of medical treatment is emerging. The medical science image processing and analysis is gradually to be characteristic academics. The research direction of medical image processing is to combine the computer image processing technology with modern medical science; it can be used as computer-aided treatment in medical science. Visualization on medical volume data is the key technology in visualization and biomedical information engineering and is used widely in medical.The main research of this thesis is the algorithms of 3D visualization on medical volume data which is obtained from a series of two dimensions medical images. In surface rendering, the main research is Dividing Cubes. It's faster than Marching Cubes. In Volume Rendering, the main research method is Shear-Warp, and it's faster than Ray-casting.In this thesis, a small 3D visualization system is designed. The main function of this system is as below: image of reading and displaying; series of dicom images of reading and displaying; the conversion of the image format; the process of series of dicom images with arithmetic of 3D visualization, including Dividing Cubes and Shear-Warp; the process of CT image with Gaussian smooth arithmetic; simple Interaction on the result of 3D visualization, including revolution, motion, enlarging and reducing.
