Displaying planar image by using seismic section and horizontal slice is a traditional interpret method of 3-D seismic data , which has great localization .Many years ago, people brought forword seismic data use 3-D interpretation. Scientific visualization is chief interpret method of 3-D seismic data, which includes surface visualization and volume rendering. In this paper ,we will research Shear-warp algorithm in seismic data field ,that is one of volume rendering.First, the paper discusses the knowledge of 3-D seismic data, recommends the mainly methods and the currently situation of research.Then, explaining the key methods and processes of direct volume rendering. And introducing the traditional ray-casting algorithm.After that, the paper discusses Shear-warp algorithm in seismic data field, which is the key of this paper.Then, the steps of Shear-warp algorithm are explained. First, two methods are used to classify the data, one is linearity-based, another is equilibria-based. Second, using index file and opacity curve to translate data to index. Third, Shearing the data and bilinear interposed value resample, then image composition to produce the middle image. And last, projecting the middle image, and warping to produce the final image.The results of experiments have shown methods of this paper is available.
