In the last few years, the DSP technology develops rapidly and had been already applied to many domains. Its specific hardware architecture is very suitable for large data processing algorithm that needs to be delt with. It has the advantages of highly-efficient, high-speed, high precision and so on. So it is the preferred device of embedded system requiring algorithm in many areas.As VLSI art is increasingly improved, more and more powerful functions can be achieved by FPGA. It has a short development cycle, low-cost, easily repeated erasure and programming and simple development advantage. It has been the trend of current electronic design technology.MEMS is an essential device in strapdown navigation system. The micro Strapdown Inertial Navigation system has already been hotspot of inertial Navigation technology. This system is small and need mass data real-time solution. Under the background, this paper presents the project of DSP and FPGA constructing the micro Strapdown Inertial Navigation embedded system.Firstly, the paper introduces the development and current situation of MEMS and the element theory of the Strapdown Inertial Navigation System and the theoretical base of the systematic design. Secondly,it uses the parallel-axis technology to design SINS. According to the test,the system works stablely,but the precision is not high.so it put forward the idea about four-axis MIMU .Thirdly, it completes the design of hardware and partial software in the embedded system.Finally, we collect data from MEMS. The hardware design and the idea about MIMU is the focus of this paper. The hardware platform of system is made up of single DSP and single FPGA, DSP concentrates to the SINS algorithm solution calculation, but FPGA plays the connection role between DSP and each kind of sensor, is similar to a front-end component of DSP. And the software of system mainly refers to the smallest system of DSP program, including the CMD file program and the partial drive module design .In the process of debugging and testing of system, the system works stablely, achieves the basic function of SINS.
