Research On Software Defect Management And Defect Tracking System

With the developing of software industry, the software defect has been a key restricted factor of software quality. How to manage and track the defects found during the period of testing and use have an important reality meaning of improving the defect fixing efficiency.According to the current software management status, this paper has a systematic investigation on software defect management and its auxiliary tool: defect tracking system. At the first place, this paper introduces what software defects are, and its features, classification and life cycle related concepts. Following this, this paper clarifies the goal of software management and the relation between software defect management and software capability mature module, then expounds the main process management elements of software defect management, introduces and compares several typical defect tracking system. Based on these investigations, this paper introduces and summaries the methods used in the defect tracking process define and management from the engineering perspective.The author uses the design idea of combining the B/S structure and the work flow related technology, designs and realizes the function structure and main modules of a software defect tracking system according to the enterprise requirement. This system has the defects tracking, defect query, defect statistic and flexible work flow define features, achieved the goal of improving on the defect fixing efficient and the defect fixing working process.
