Abstract/Summary:
With the development of field bus technology,multi-bus networking technology is widely applied.The CAN/LIN networking application is most widespread.There are many advantages to apply of CAN/LIN networking technology.Firstly,compared to CAN Bus node, the biggest advantage of LIN-Bus is cost savings of nodes.In particular,when there are many nodes,the total cumulative cost savings of nodes is very significant.Secondly,internal communications of LIN-bus network can greatly reduce the burden of the backbone network of CAN-bus,and reduce the possibility of data blocking in the CAN-bus.This is important to a real-time control system.Therefore,CAN/LIN networking technology is widely applied in many fields for its low-cost and outstanding features.Generally CAN/LIN protocol converting gateway is applied to realizing the CAN/LIN networking technology.This paper designs a CAN/LIN protocol conversion gateway based on detailed analysis and research on CAN-bus and LIN-bus protocol.The gateway structurally divides into the CAN controller module,the LIN controller module and the protocol converting module.The basic thinking is to integrate the CAN controller and the LIN controller to a chip,and realize the data transformation through the protocol converting module.The Gateway allows the transparent transmission of message between the CAN network and LIN network.After receiving a L1N frame,gateway will convert LIN ID into CAN ID,then transmits as the CAN data frame in the CAN network.Aider receiving a CAN frame,gateway will convert CAN ID into LIN ID,then transmits as the LIN frame in the LIN network.This paper emphatically discusses the design methods of the related modules in the gateway,as well as the main implementing procedure of the modules.Some related simulation wave forms are also included.Altera's Quartusâ…¡is selected as the design platform to realize the programming of the function modules in the gateway with the VerilogHDL hardware description language.The FPGA development board is used as the hardware platform to carry on the system verification.The gateway with major function block in one chip has high reliability,and is more compact and easier to use,will certainly be applied widely.
