With the popularity and rapid development of computer technology, computer software plays an increasingly important role in people's lives. Meanwhile, a large number of pirated computer software was sold and used. These actions have greatly affected the diversity, creativity and quality of new software. Therefore, software copyright protection has become an important part of the software development process. Practice proves that the software copyright protection technology which is being used has its technical limitations. So some further research on new software copyright protection technology is required.From the emergence of smart-card technology with its high standard of safety and the increasingly powerful data-processing capability, it has been widely applied in the areas of finance, communications, social security and other fields. Based on the smart card security advantages inherent in the hardware, the paper does a further research related to software copyright protection technology from the level of software. (1) An encrypted component management model for software copyright protection under limited hardware resource environment is presented. Downloading, updating and deleting the encrypted multi-component are realized through combining virtual machine (VM) technology and layered function strategy. Also the model can use the life-cycle theory of encrypted component for the management. (2) The formalized expression of security access control model and data backup model. Security access control model can implement access control of encrypted components. Data backup model makes the procedure of data write-in operation indiserptible. (3) The remote update of encrypted components is probably in an unreliable network environment. The risks that exist in the update process are analyzed, a mechanism to ensure the update security is designed too. The three part of the mechanism: key management module, a two-way authentication module, encrypted components secure transmission module, are also discussed. (4) The communication model and mechanism between the smart card and PC are realized, the API sets are provided too. (5) The paper explains the work flow of the new software copyright protection technology with an example. (6) At last, the advantages and features of this technology are reviewed, and a further study is also put forward.
