The Panoramic technology which is based on Image-Based Rendering (IBR) is a global new technology and develops rapidly. Compared with the traditional method of 3D Modeling and Rendering, it has great advantages in efficiency and effectiveness and becomes a hot topic in recent years.The Panoramic technology is composed of image acquisition, image projection, image splicing and scene roaming and so on. In this paper, i have deeply researched the projection and reprojection of images, the algorithms of image stitching and so on. By analyzing these algorithms, I found some disadvantages and gave out our solutions of it. Of course, i have realized the algorithms.What is more; i have improved some algorithms to enhance the efficiency of image stitching. I eventually formed a panoramic system solution. Above all, i also have researched the switching technology between the different scenes, designed and implemented six types of effects with using OpenGL. It can switch smoothly between different scenes and call the right maps.Image Stitching is a key step to the result as well as a key technology; it is complex and need large amounts of computation. In order to obtain high-quality panoramic images need long time to stitch can not endure by commercial systems, so i have studied the problems and applied multi-thread technology to the image stitching,then realized automatic stitching and manual stitching, it improves the calculating velocity.This is a innovation of this paper.Numerous experiments proved that the multi-thread applied to image stitching used to improve the efficiency.The system of this paper is a Spherical Panorama System, which can provide a scope of 360-degree horizontal and 180-degree vertical. According to the requirements of topics, i have realized the switching effects which made switch scene natural and dynamic between different scenes by using OpenGL-cache technology.In this area, very little research has been conducted, this is a special aspect of this paper.
