As the rapid progress of industrial automation and the wide-spread application of computer, the demand of automation is increasing. The availabilities of various control devices and process monitoring devices make it almost impossible for the traditional industrial software to meet the demands of all kinds of consumers. To aviod the less flexibility, long period of developing, difficulty in maintenance and high price, the application of configuration software for monitoring receives much attention.By using the existing configuration software technology combined with the application environment, this thesis implements a distributed control system for the airport lights. The system is a typical example of distributed control system, including the lamp controller, the RS485 bus as a communication link, the industrial control computer and LAN as a control computer network. The lamp controllers receive control signals and send back status signals.The industrial control computer controls the bus and the exchanging of the data, and responds the operation on the client as a WEB server and database server.The primary points of this thesis are as follows: in the realization of the system, this thesis proposes a design of the entire system architecture, confirms the protocol of customization layer and control layer between the equipment, and designs point parameters of the real-time database and configurates the real-time monitoring system interface by using the PCAuto as a development platform. Finally, this thesis builds a distributed monitoring system which can be easily extended. In the realization of system security, it analyzes the system security in the management layer and the application layer. Specially, the application layer uses a hot standby operation of the whole system to guarantee the sustainability and security. This system has the capability of monitoring and controlling through network, and management localization, make it more convenient and accurate in system monitoring and controlling for the operators of the tower. Besides, this system can be used in various distributed monitoring field by extending the system accordingly.
