With the rapid advancement of the computing & communication technology at the TB level, the storage technology at the TB level is turned out to be necessary. People need faster speed of reading and writing data. To meet this requirement, some new architecture are invented. SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) become more and more popular in the network storage area, while a novel storage architecture is invented to integrate the object-oriented storage and network technology. It migrates locator intelligence and file system of information and datas from the host side to the storage, so it precedes traditional architecture by promising higher scalability, better security and shared access, fast location of data, transparency of migrating data and providing always-on-line backup data.In the prototype of OBSS(Object Based Storage System), device with FC(Fibre channel) interface is normally used as the high performance storage device. The FC controller , as the bridge between the client&metadata server and the OSD(Object Storage Device), is required to encapsulate the SCSI command from the metadata server and client and transfer it to FC devicesFC controller is composed of hardware and control software. Hardware is developed by using SOPC(System on Programmable Chip) method, which can provide higher flexibility, shorter I/O distance and higher performance. The control softwawre is divided into 3 modules:FCP(FC Protocol for SCSI) module,FC-2 module and register/loging module. FCP module initiates the data structure while system booting, encapsulates SCSI command control blocks into the standard format of FC command frame, manages the information of each I/O and provides the interface to interact with lower layer module...
