With the virtual reality technology boom, It has created many branches of this technology, video gesture control technology is one of them. This technology consist of motion detection technology and virtual control technology, It uses optical reflection principle and computer vision to detect human motion and position changes. Image processing software process these changing messages and give their feedback to the display device, so that the generated virtual world's changes suit the human action. Video gesture control technology values the interaction function as the first point in the virtual environment, so its general demonstration environment is the two-dimensional plane.This thesis described the basic principles of the motion detection technology and virtual control technology, two basic component of the video gesture control technology. We use the active Infrared detection as the hardware motion detection means. We give two ideas in the Image processing process, first using a combination of a temporal difference variant and the edge detection, the other using the temporal difference with the optical flow. Apply them to the different virtual interaction, we compared them with different virtual objects. With the example of the football-human interactive system follow, We give in-depth analysis of the virtual control in the video gesture control technology, focus on the object of behavior control and interactive control of the virtual object.To prove the correctness of the above analysis, The author construct a virtual system based on video gesture control technology using the corresponding hardware and software. We use the system in the "Mirage football" ,a project of Huazhong University of Science and Technology cooperating with the Guangdong science center. In the system, we use the edge detection methods based on canny operator and the inter-frame compare to do the motion detection, using the Flash technology to design the virtual control. In this thesis, we give the system implementation process, the experimental results and at last note the shortcomings of the system as well as the future development of the video gesture control technology.
