The Research Of Virtual Marine Power Plant Handling Simulator Web3D-based

Marine power plant simulator is the most important part of marine simulator.Students or sailors could strengthen their practical ability by using it. With the rapid development of virtual reality technology, computer and network technology,the simulation web-based is favored because of its convenience,cheapness and easy upgrading,has a breakthrough in many areas both at home and abroad.At present, virtual reality technology still hasn't mature technologies in the marine simulator application.This paper study for marine power plant simulator aiming at developing the research about this subject.When users observe three-dimensional graphics and interact with them in real-time on internet, because the data dose not saved in the local hardware, and runs in different environment, the traditional solutions can only generate graphics in the web server and than transfer them to client to show. Because of the bandwidth restrictions, it is difficult to develop the 3D graphics online. This paper presents the making and interactive method of large-scale online virtual reality technology's VRML 3D scene.The basic idea is:1)Make vector's VRML 3D digital model of the electrical and mechanical equipments;2)Build up the control mathematical models of each mechanical and electrical system through the script interface to promote the actions of 3D virtual scene;3)Transfer the models files, and download in local computer, real-time render with VRML browser, display interactive 3D graphics and animations.This paper designs the 3D visualization models of marine power plant panels, auxiliary diesel generators, emergency generator, shaft generator with virtual reality technology, using the true math models to control the 3D virtual reality scenes and combining the multimedia sound, light, text notes and other means, according to the marine power plant simulator of a 2700TEU containers ship. We make the web sites of virtual marine power plant handling system Institute of Marine Engineering Jimei University, then publish the web sites through Apache to reproduce the true marine power plant simulator scenes.Users can log the server at any time and any where, and can browser and interact with virtual scenes through the screen in personal computer,using the mouse and keyboard to control the viewpoint and perspective, without expensive professional equipments such as digital glover and helmets, to realize the dynamic roaming. This system introduces the component, function of marine power plant simulator,and operation procedures of the assessment projects through sound, text notes, video and other means such as the sound and light alarm when heavy loading, the sound of ocean wave and mew and so on. Users can read the video and texts showing correct operation of conventional assessment projects on web sites at any time.Through linking the virtual scenes with database, users can save the operation records. Teacher can check and evaluate according to the operation records. The administrator and teachers can modify or design online, upload the virtual scenes'models and math models at any time and any where according to the actual situation, also can add the virtual scenes'files in .wrl format to make the system scalable and extensible.
