| With the rapid development of mobile communication industry, the third generation communication standard is becoming increasingly concerned. TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) which is one of the 3G mobile communications standards, was presented by Datang Telecom Technology Group and approved by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) in March 2001. Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co. Ltd (Datang Mobile) has the long-term research and development on TD-SCDMA system.In TD-SCDMA system, the Radio Network Controller (RNC) is the major part of the access network. RNC not only handles the protocol exchange across Iu, Iur and Iub interfaces, but also take charge of centralized operation and maintenance of the entire RNS. The user' s circuit-switched and packet-switched data coming from Iu-CS and Iu-PS interfaces are multiplexed together for multimedia transmission via Iur, Iub and Uu interfaces. It is obvious that the accomplishment of RNC is crucial to implement the TD-SCDMA system.This thesis discussed the process of data access in the TD-SCDMA RNC system. According to the analysis of the access data service with the requirement of marketing, the author made use of network processors to achieve multi-protocol access to data processing. The method mentioned supports not only ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode)-based traffic, as well as IPv4, IPv6 but also MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) traffic. The solution is designed two parts called the main board and independent card in hardware structure. The board supports the different functional adaptive card in order to finish the multiple data access operation through a common public interface. It is proved that the scheme reduced both the developed cost and the maintenance cost.In this thesis, based on the network processor technique adopted by Agere Company, a novel method using the network processor in conjunction with the co-processor is proposed. This method can simplify the protocol process, accordingly it could improve the lifecycle of product. The performance of product with proposed methods has been proved to meet the design requirement. |
