Microwave & millimeter wave antenna is the transmitting and receiving center of information for modern military equipments. Every sort and kind of radars, heads of guided missiles, electronic communication devices, electronic interferometers, enemy-us identifying systems, evening including the C3I systems depend on various antennae. Many late-model antennae, antenna arrays, antenna array sections have greatly improved the performance of directivity, null depth and gain, thus the performance of the antenna measurement equipments should be improved either to match the needs. Especially for the phase controlled radar antenna array section measurement, a more accurate and faster measuring instrument should be used.The paper will briefly examine the technology research background and its meanings as well as the present development state home and abroad. The conceptions and parameters used in antenna measurement are introduced too. Then the paper will discuss the designing method of the microwave & millimeter wave antenna measurement system and the system's performance and specifications as well as the feasibility of the system. The primary information in this paper will be the pivotal technical information that needs to be considered when developing the system: the programming method of microwave & millimeter wave antenna measurement system, the sharing line technology of microwave, intermediate frequency and direct current, the flatness compensation and control technology for long LO signal transmitting, the standardization, modularization, serialization technology, the wide-band coax microwave down-converting technology, and the millimeter wave waveguide harmonic mixing technology.The designing method of the present system has successfully used in a series of microwave& millimeter wave near-field and far-field antenna measurement systems' manufacturing and producing. The general consensus is pretty good and this also proves the feasibility of the present method.
