Virtual Instrument is a kind of PC-based Automation test system. It combines the computer technology and the electronics instrument module through software. With the PC's powerful ability of calculation and the instrument module's high accuracy of data acquisition Virtual Instrument can run the control software, get and analyze the acquired data automatically. And that makes the Virtual Instrument be more flexible to realize all kinds of testing function with lower cost. National Instrument is an American company which first introduces a virtual instrument product. Its DAQ card and LabVIEW share the most part of Virtual Instrument market. This thesis introduces the hardware and software design of a push-button switch force test system based on LabVIEW.Firstly, the concept of Virtual Instrument and some related knowledge such as servo system, encoder, four wire resistance measurements etc. are introduced. Secondly, the hardware design of the system which includes hardware selection, test PCB design and the interface design of DAQ card and motion control card etc. are described in detail. Thirdly, the design of test software is discussed. The specifications, the data acquisition of pushing force the implementation of all test items and the measurement of open and close resistance are all introduced. Fourthly, the test of the whole system, problems and experience during de design are also presented. At last, a brief conclusion of this thesis are drawn, and some issues need to be improved are described.
