Five-year higher-graded vocational education, one of the important technical education systems both at home and abroad, combines a three-year vocation high school (specialized middle school) and two-year higher vocational education (technical college), which means that students should spend five years completing college education after graduating from junior middle school.Foundational courses in vocational schools, such as chemistry, are often ignored because they are thought to be unvalued for the learning of technical skills. However, it is not true. During the process of curriculum reform, the author developed a school-based curriculum of chemistry, which lay special stress on practicality, for the electronics major in five-year higher-graded vocational school after profound investigation. The new chemistry curriculum was then applied, and the effect was also examined in this paper. The present thesis includes six parts. They are: the theory of school-based curriculum, the characteristics of five-year higher-graded vocational school, the theory of chemistry curriculum development, the development of school-based curriculum of chemistry for the electronics major in five-year higher-graded vocational school, the application of the curriculum, and the examination of the effects.
