With the development of wireless wide band technology and digital signal processing technology, the next generation of Mobile Multimedia Communication Terminal presents the tendency of combining the wireless communication with the multimedia data processing. Having the typical characteristic of formidable multimedia service, it can process multimedia such as image, audio, video, and so on. And has the spacious prospect and limitless opportunity for it can be applied to network video monitor system, personal multimedia digital assistant, visual telephone, video conference, network transmission and wireless multimedia communication.Based on the analysis to Mobile Multimedia Communication Terminal, this paper chooses the second generation video code standard MPEG-4 as the video proceeding standard of this project, for it aims at the requiring to the conformity and compress technique such as digital television, interactive cartography application, interactive multimedia. To meet the needed of proceeding in MPEG-4 standard and also to support WLAN and other block, this project chooses OMAP5912 as its processor. This Chip is made up the dual-core processing architecture by ARM926EJ-S Processor and TMS320C55x DSP Core and combined with the high performance and low power loss ,and has an easy-to-use open style construction. Moreover, it provides various user interfaces and supports almost all the prevalent wired and wireless interfaces. Based on this processor ,the author is in charge of the design of hardware platform and software of wireless access module: In the hardware aspect, according to the performance characteristic of the OMAP5912 Chip, based on this chip to build hardware platform, the functions of image sensing, audio input and output, LCD display, touch screen, keyboard control input and MMC/SD memory are accomplished. In the software aspect, this paper describe the way in which the software platform of the system that based on OMAP dual-core architecture chip constructs, and completes the design of Wireless Local Area Network module driver.
