In the paper, synesthetic phenomenon in the works of vision communication design is the research object. The author firstly makes a thorough study on the psychological phenomenon-"synaesthesia", and show that there are correlations and mutual transformation between the feelings of human. The cause of this phenomenon connects with not only physiological functions of human, but also"heterogeneous isomorphism"between the objective world and people's psychology. Synaesthesia itself has rhetorical, cognitive and aesthetic functions, it makes the research and application on synaesthesia in art and design become the possibility. In artistic psychology activity, synaesthesia shows not merely transfer of single sense of perception, but a new aesthetic image because of overlapping and communication between art images. On the Basis of the human perception, synaesthesia can surpass the sensory limitation and create the aesthetic highest state of image intercommunication, because of involving in imagination and infiltrating into the human emotion. Thereafter, the author analyses the difference of together perception and synaesthesia, and define the implication of artistic synaesthesia from the view of apperception. And then the author puts forward the concept of design synaesthesia starting from the difference and connection between art and design. The aim of the transitional part is to dialysis synesthetic phenomenon in the psychology activity of design art.The final purpose of theoretical study is to guiding practice. Combining some atypical works with synaesthesia function in visual communication design, this paper categorizing synaesthesia from the beginning of analysis on synaesthesia of visual formal elements. It points out that the individual difference in mentality and culture will bring influence to synaesthesia effect of visual formal. So when apply synaesthesia to design, the psychological effect of these factors should be considered.Design should serve people. Research on visual communication design cannot remain at the level of seeing, Instead, we should deeply discussion on visual psychology and even the field of visual psychology. The article aims at explicating the research on sensibility of human, and takes the design catering to people's feeling to new levels by application of the synaesthetic theory, especially explicates new thought of design creation by exploring creative characteristic of synaesthetic thinking , and puts forward new views of the application of synaesthetic thinking methods in design.
