China is a country with a lot of farmers. There is more than half of people living in the countryside, and Chinese farmers play an important part in this country. In recent years the income of farmers has been increased. Farmers start to buy digital products. For the digital product companies, the countryside market is becoming more and more important. But they still don't make clear the habits of Chinese fanners using digital products and the requirements of Chinese farmers on digital products, and studies in this area are very little in China now.This paper mainly describes the process of the research on digital products' user experience for Chinese farmers and tries to answer whether the methods of user-center design are good at designing digital products for Chinese farmers. The research uses the methods of usability engineer and interaction design to know the habits and requirements of Chinese farmers, then with the results we develop the prototype and complete usability guidelines for the digital products design for Chinese farmers.The research is divided into five stages. The first stage is to find out the condition of similar studies carried out at home and abroad at present and the definition of Chinese country and farmer through literature review, then set down the reseach plan. In the second stage we conduct interview and focus group with off-farm workers in Dalian in order to know the present life of the farmers, to selecte the place to conduct the research and make the purpose of the research clear.Then we conduct observation and interview in the real environment of farmers, and get their using habits and special requirements for digital products.With the result of the third stage, we conduct user test to design and test the prototype. Finally reference to the relevant design criteria,we write the usability guidelines of digital products designed for Chinese farmers.As the result of the study shown, the fanners have their unique requirements and habits for the use of digital products.They need internent to help them to expand the access to information channels.When they use digital products,they require more help, tips and clear function labels, and the interaction flows should be simple.Using the methods of usability Engineering, interaction design and user-center design can design products satisfied the target users and improve user experience highly.
