The launch of Broadband Global Area Network service ensures the meaning of researching maritime satellite mobile terminal and its broad market prospects. On the basis of Maritime Satellite System analysis, this project attaches its importance to the antenna tracking system. This thesis is based on SALOR Fleet33 System, which is a marine terminal manufactured by Thrane & Thrane. The system combines ADU (Above Deck Unit), BDU (Below Deck Unit) and Handset.This thesis makes a research of the antenna control unit (ACU) in ADU. The primary function of ACU is that it can control the antenna to search and track the satellite. In the hardware design of ACU, TI's TMS320F2812 is chosen as the processor. The system includes other functional part such as motors, sensors and GPS. The software for ACU is divided into four modules, as Serial port communication, Motor control, Sensors Control and Algorithm. Serial port communication module is designed to ensure the successful data communication between ACU and BDU. Motor control module is designed to change the antenna's Azimuth and Pitch Angle, so it can search and track the satellite steadily. This system is used on the sea, where exists a lot of bumping, which has an effect on some parameters in control system. So Tilt sensors and Gyro sensors are needed to measure the changing value of these parameters. On the basis of the value measured by the sensors, the compensate angle can be worked out through an algorithm, and then the attitude of the antenna can be adjusted in time.The thesis accomplished the software design of the antenna control system of the maritime satellite telephone. Cooperated with the hardware system, the paper realizes the construction of antenna tracking system of maritime satellite mobile terminal. A more integrated tracking system starts to take shape. The research lays the foundation for a further research of maritime tracking products and its localization.
