Research On University's Instructional Resource Database And Its Design And Development

With Information Technology Revolution(IT revolution) boomed in 1970's,human's world has come from industrialized period into information era with multimedia and Internet technology as the representative.Information technology has infiltrated into every aspect of human life.Many education experts have proposed the concept of educational normalization in this context.In recent years,educational information has developed very quickly,people's educational concept,teaching methods,learning methods and other major changes have taken place,digital learning resources have been used more and more widely in modern education.How to systematically and rationally develop,organize and manage digital learning resources has become new problems for educators.Many experts and scholars have put forward a proposal of designing and developing instructional resource database.The main purpose of constructing of instructional resource database is to supply quality and efficient services to university teaching and learning,which is of great significant in improving the quality of teaching, expanding the scale of higher education and easing the resource and other issues.At present,many universities and enterprises have constructed their own instructional resource database which really provides a lot of help to teaching and learning,but there are different degrees of problems,such as poor-quality resources, attributes marked not standardized,interactive ability limited and so on.How to design and develop high-quality and highly efficient instructional resource database is the main content of this paper.This paper has six chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the background,purpose, significations,the main contents,research methods and a technique line of this research, and defines the related concept.The second chapter discusses the history and the trend of the development of instructional resource database,the main problems in the construction process,then the features of construction in foreign countries and its Enlightenment to China.The third chapter analyses the technical specifications to be followed in building the database,including two parts:the main research results of foreign educational resources building technical specifications and national educational resources building technical specifications.The fourth part studies the guiding principles of teaching resources and digital instructional resources classification,pointing out that the educational principles,scientific principles,systemic principles,technological principles and service principles are the principles to be followed in the constructing of instructional resource database.This chapter also designed a set of five-classification system of digital instructional resources.The fifth chapter is about the design of an instructional resource database system platforms and functions by using ORACLE,ASP.NET, DREAMWEAVER,and a brief introduction to the application and management of the system.The last part summarizes the results of research,gives some advices on the designing and developing of instructional resource database,and forecasts the further research on this field.
