Along with the gradual maturity of the virtual reality technology and the people's gradual understanding for it, in the real life, people use the three-dimensional hypothesized image more and more to vividly express its effect. The virtual carving is the imitation for the actual carving in the virtual world .Because of the simulation, the revision and the distortion, we nearly do not need the material and the processing cost, therefore we may take the real carving product as the design tool, and we may independently carry on the artistic appreciation.After contrasting several kinds of common graphs technologies, this article propose one kind interactive modeling technology based on Java3D, forming the carving surface of the physique, and it doesn't need to the gather operation to direct support to realize the virtual carving function.In this paper, a physique can be formed constructing the index curved surface and establishing primitive object by using the superficial modeling technology, replacing the hypothesized chisel with the mouse, through the method of changing the primitive object table coordinates, the hollow effect of the object surface can be realized. In the paper, it mainly elaborated the virtual carving effect process under the Java language environment using Java3D, including the relevant concepts of the virtual carving technology and introduction of the development environment of Java3D. The design goal and technical route for the system; the process and method for creating carving place using Java3D; The enforcing steps and related computation for the virtual carving.The memory of scene has used the data lasting technology. The object sequence document technology has been applied to store objects of the scense in turn to the object document that user defining, which the Java language provides. When the scene document is opened next time, the object of the document will be taken out in turn and evaluated to the corresponding object of procedure, and then the scene will be restored. This virtual carving system has provided the interactive operation interface, whose request for the user is comparatively lower and whose operation is very convenient. Not only the stereoscopic effect is strong, but it provides the translation, rotation, contract, and the establishment illumination effect function, etc. This system can apply to the three dimensional computer carving picture creation and artistic design, etc.
