For a long time, fatigue drive is the main reason of traffic accidents. Fatigue drive affects drives' watchfulness and safe driving, and some investigations indicate that traffic accident frequency in fatigue state will increase out of proportion. The problem of fatigue drive has drawn people's attention, western developed countries have devoted large amounts of manpower and material resources to promote research of fatigue drive detecting widely, but the methods of fatigue drive detecting in our country are still backward, the study of fatigue drive detecting is significant obviously. The research of fatigue drive detecting methods with modern photics, electronics and iatrology and developing devices of fatigue drive detecting have important project and academic meanings.Nowadays, fatigue drive detecting is still in experimental phase, most methods of fatigue drive detecting are based on PC, some are based on DSP, this kind of detecting equipment based on DSP usually uses TMS320C6000 digital signal processor as system's core processor, this method's cost is high. Therefore, it is very necessary to exploit a kind of cheap equipment that can detect fatigue drive. By analyzing two methods' advantages and disadvantages above, analog image sensor is used to acquire drives' images in this equipment, then analog images are transformed into digital images by using Philips company's video input processor SAA7113H, next drives' images are processed by using TMS320VC5509A and detect whether the drivers are in fatigue state or not, the annunciator alarms if the drives are in fatigue. Fatigue drive detecting is completed by using PERCLOS method and image processing techniques.The study of fatigue drive detecting device based on vision includes three parts: acquisition and digitization of drives' analog images, storage of digital images' and procession to detect fatigue. The software and hardware design of fatigue drive detecting device, the facture of circuit and debugging are completed. First integral notion of system design is brought out at the beginning of the text in this paper, then detail technical information and functions of every module are narrated in each chapter, finally some suggestions for system optimization are also provided.
