The survival and development is always one of the difficulties for mini type and medium type museums, it also became the concerned matters for museums in recent years. In the aspect of the development and countermeasure research of museums, the domestic scholar often think much of policy stratification plane research and the research of large-scale museums, so the mini type and medium type museums develops slowly. This selected topic researches for the problems and countermeasure in current situation for the mini type and medium type museums. It provides practice value and instruction significance for the development of such museums by careful investigation, question finding and experience referencing.This article divided into four chapters, combining the statistical data, reviews and analyses the history evolution. It depicts the development situation and achievements for the state mini type and medium type museums in Nanjing completely. It shows the problems of the funds, management, talented person, idea and subjective factors and objective factors for such problems objectively. Among which, the subjective factor includes financial investment insufficiency and imperfect safeguard system, the objective factor includes insufficient plan science proof, unclearly goal for hall establishment, conservative thought, lag reform, imperfect system, weak scientific management, weak service consciousness and fuzzy position localization. The last chapter stresses to the analysis and the discussion for the development direction and countermeasure of state mini type and medium type museums on the basis of new museology theory for several aspects such as humanist, diverse collection content, diverse exhibitions, more audiences choice and so on. It also analyzes the importance and necessity of marketing in new situation for such museums. By such marketing investigation, localization, operation, design and plan, the state mini type and medium type museums provides the characteristic and complete product for the public, displays museum main social functions which are education and service.
