Modeling of engine system plays an important part in the modeling process of flight simulator. The accuracy of the engine model affects the fidelity of flight simulation directly. Modeling and simulation of a turbofan engine was studied on in this paper.Firstly, the turbofan engine working principle and modeling method were discussed, then the synthetically modeling method which is"overall modeling method combined with integrated assemblies modeling method"was adopted to establish engine system SIMULINK simulation model. The integrated assemblies method was adopted for function and control logic modeling, the overall modeling method was adopted for performance parameters. Model of engine system software and the external interface were defined by requirement analysis.Secondly, the engine model, which includes the description of software function module, the definition of mathematical model and input/output signals, mapping Flow Chart and building Simulink model was established by using MATLAB/Simulink.Thirdly, in order to be more intuitive model to express the functionality, performance and interface relations with other subsystems of flight simulator, the engine system real-time demonstration system is developed by using Real-time Windows Target based on MATLAB/Simulink. The demonstration system include engine starting, running, thrust reverser, shutdown and engine in-flight shutdown, windmill, start and most of gauges and indicators, it can also be used for real-time observing and testing some of the parameters.Finally, compared the simulation data and flight data, the results shows that the simulation data are accorded with the requirements of flight simulator engine system and all of verified data are within the tolerance error. The engine model can be embedded into the Full Flight Simulators.
