Symbol timing recovery (Bit Synchronization) is the key technology in the digital communication. Jitter and misplace of the bit synchronization signal will reduce the anti-interference performances of communication equipment directly, also increase bit error probabaility. This paper researches the technology in a"burst mode"communication bit synchronization based on the digital reciver of Inmarsat GES/AES system.Synchronization is very important in a "burst mode" communication system and it has been one of focuses of communication systems in recent years. So the work in this dissertation is originated from this problem.The beginning in this paper introduces the theory of bit synchronization and analyzes the component of the synchronization system. Then the paper detailed analyzes systematic structure, its algorithms and its performance indicators to establish a foundation for the work for the future. Then the paper analyzes the similarities and differences of the continuous and the burst mode communication system.This paper shapes its course after analyzing the modulation mode and the frame format in the communication protocol of the Inmarsat R-channel and T-channel. The scheme includes two head and fronts: the timing recovery of the leader series in a"short-burst-mode"and the timimg adjustment of the data in a"long-burst-mode"communication. Farther propose a new"shifting"algorithm by ameliorating the interplation loop.The thesis also describer two system atic schemes in hardware language. And these two schemes have been realized with FPGA chip.
