This main job of this subject is the Inmarsat -F system design of Beijing land earth station. It is based on the condition of International Mobile Satellite Company which supports the Inmarsat-F system service and on the base of Beijing Land Earth Station's establishment and basis condition. The basic principle is to build the Inmarsat-F Standerd Land Earth Station of our country under the condition of using the original equipment bases. The station will support the mobile communication to the users including telephone, data and facisimal service all over the world and it will be convenient and economy. This paper discusses the system design in detile from it's background, feasibility, necessity and project. The project includs the follows: station address selection, system composition, service type and function, capacity analysis, equipment scheme, facility model selection, use of the existing equipment and terrestrial transfer line, environment, power supply and so on. The risk of design is completed according to the correlation rules of our country project infrastructure. It represents: a), the better transmission and voice quality; b). compared to the old INMARSAT system, the rate of access success is improved on 10%; c). the function of the INMARSAT-F in Beijing Land Earth Station meets the requirement of users; d). the terminal user reaches 63 in 2003, is more than 33 of INMARSAT-B, and 11 of IMNARSAT-A.During the design of this system, the most important result is the success of "using the old equipment". Based on the checking result of the original equipments and the technology handbook, we test the system and confirm the project with the experiment data.
