RFID(Radio Frequency Identification for short) is a non-contact wireless automatic identification technology. It communicates by coupling or spreading of space electromagnetic wave to identify the marked target automatically and obtain the related information. If RFID can be applied to the area of warehouse management, it will have much more impact than barcode technology which is now used extensively. From introducing the development of RFID technology application, this paper presents its basic working principle and technical characteristics.Corresponding system solutions are raised from the requirements of the warehouse management.The key point of this paper is the design methods of hardware and software of three kinds of RFID readers which are based on ISO15693 agreement and Tag-it RF labels. Several experiments are presented to validate the capability of system parameters at the end of this paper. And we also bring out several measures to improve and perfect the system performance. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. The creation, developments and applications of the RFID are investigated and analysed domestic and abroad. The application values of the RFID in other fields are forseen. The status of the domestic logistics warehousing management fields is investigated. The characteristics and requirements of the warehouse management inside are analyzed. The collectivity solutions are designed by combining the characteristics and advantages of RFID.2. The hardware design and software system development of the fixed read-write head are completed.3. The hardware design and software program of the portable read-write head based on 51 MCU are completed.4. The hardware design of the portable read-write head which is based on ARM9 processor and the design of the embedded system are initially completed.5. The experiments of the system testing are designed and finished. The experimental data are analyzed.
