Research And Application On Smart Client Technology

With the deepening of the development of information construction , the requirement for management information system has been increasing as well. The traditional fat client architecture and thin client architecture can't satisfied the demand of building some software system. People need a kind of new architecture technique urgently to adapt the development of software .The emergence of Smart Client provides a kind of good solution to the problem .Smart Client applications are designed to combine the benefits of fat client with the benefits of thin client and discard their disadvantages . The Smart Client can provide users with a rich and responsive user interface and a way to take advantage of local hardware and software resources, and save the cost and the cycle of development, suit the application scene which connects occasionally.This paper analyzes the advantages and shortcomings of traditional fat client architecture and thin client architecture first, thus leads up to the definition of smart client, then introduces the type of Smart Client ,discusses the distinct characteristic :make use of local resources ,make use of network resources, support occasionally connected users and provide intelligent installation and update. Secondly, the paper studies smart client architecture and correlative technique, including establishing connect , handling data , occasionally connect , security , deploying and updating smart client applications and so on .Finally ,using smart client technology constructs ProjectManage System on .NET platform. It focuses on the structure of the smart client and the design of the core technology, but not the design of the business service. The paper simply introduces ProjectManage System based on smart client, and puts emphasis on analyzing the design of the core technology of the smart client.
